Our facilities at Cedar Park Nursery include 6 main teaching areas divided by age. The Ofsted guidelines for staff to child ratio for different age groups are as follows:
Under 2s, 1 staff to 3 children 2-3 Years, 1 staff to 5 children 3+ Years 1 staff to 8 Children
Our Bunnies and Teddies classes provide a nurturing space where your child's needs are the key focus. We create a home-like environment by mirroring your child's daily routines. Our experienced and highly skilled practitioners encourage the children to independently explore and discover the world around them, whilst being responsive and attentive to both the babies and their parents. We provide lots of heuristic and sensory opportunities with treasure baskets to engage the babies senses and curiosity in the new world around them. Sleep is very important, and our babies enjoy a rest in a quiet, dedicated sleep area.
Get in TouchThe world becomes a bigger place, and life gets more exciting when toddlers move to the Bunnies class. Children at this age develop walking, balance and co-ordination skills, but also begin the important process of learning to form friendships and socialise with those of their own age. We provide a range of activities on different levels for our toddlers to explore, as they start to make their own choices about which areas to investigate. To support and promote children's language development we sing and listen to music and stories. Children are encouraged at mealtimes to feed themselves and by sitting with staff at the table, start to enjoy the social aspect of mealtimes.
Get in TouchBy now the children are becoming more independent, curious, and eager to explore the world around them. Through stories, play, and gentle guidance, we support the children in finding ways to share, take turns, and interact with friends in positive ways. We gently encourage children to begin to do more for themselves, whether it's washing hands, putting on shoes, or helping tidy up after play. For those starting toilet training, we work closely with parents to make it a smooth and positive experience, celebrating small successes along the way.
Get in TouchWe introduce colours and shapes through fun activities like painting, sorting games, and building with blocks. Singing songs, reading books, and exploring textures also help children develop language and early problem-solving skills in a natural way.
We continue to build on the foundations set in our younger classes, further encouraging the children to grow in confidence and independence. We support children in becoming more independent with their personal needs—putting on their coats, washing their hands, and helping tidy up. The children are encouraged to manage their personal needs, they become familiar with following routines, listening to instructions, and working in small groups—helping them feel confident and ready for school.
Get in Touch
We gently introduce children to early writing by encouraging
mark-making, letter formation, and name recognition in ways that
feels natural and fun. Whether it's through messy play, drawing,
or tracing letters in sand. Storytelling, rhymes, and songs also
play a big role in building language skills and a love for
books. Maths is woven into everyday activities, making it part
of the children's natural environment. From counting blocks
while building towers to exploring shapes in puzzles and
comparing sizes when pouring water, children start to understand
mathematical concepts in a hands-on, practical way.
We provide plenty of opportunities for outdoor play, movement,
music, and messy play, helping children build coordination,
curiosity, and a love for learning
